How to get rid of C:/autorun.inf virus?

my avira antivirus used to detect it but now it doesn't. it activates when i go onto the root of my computer ( thats C:/ i think) and deletes everything on my userexept for applications. recently when i go to the root of my computer it just restarts and give me a notice about it recovering from a fatal error or something. please help me.
