What are the negatives of anti-depressants?

Zoloft did the same thing to me. I lost myself as well. Zoloft is a medication that loses its effectiveness over time as well. The doctors will suggest increasing the dosage until it is not longer effective. While zoloft is a fairly safe medication it does alter your personality. It is designed for people with social anxiety or generalized anxiety disorder. It helps them feel less afraid, or rather turns off those fear receptors. For those without anxiety, it alters other areas. Personally, I like effexor. The side effects are basically the same, but you feel more yourself. Effexor is not an SSRI, it is an SNRI, which is the next stage of antidepressants. Since you have been on 7 different medications you are probably pretty familiar with the side effects and what not. The best thing is to tell your doctor that the medication is not working for you and explain why. This is a common complain of zoloft, so they are familiar with it and will believe you. Hope this helps and you find something that works for you.
