When i install too many items on minecraft, my inventory doesn't open.?

So i downloaded the mod and i deleted the META-INF file and drag and dropped the files in the zip of Too Many Items mod. When i open and ran minecraft, it works fine! Excepthen i press E on my keyboard, my inventory flashes and then goes away. When i take away the modded .jar file and put in the correct one, i can open my inventory. Please help. Im running it not on broswer and i have an XP
