You didn't comment on some stupid cider. You commented on the girl; you used the pronoun "she." When you personally target an individual with your speech, it will most likely cause a scene. If you hadn't used the pronoun, everything would have been fine. So, the thing that you did wrong was dragging the girl into your joke when she didn't do anything to you.
