What do anti-depressants actually do?

All they do is make you less depressed.... they do not change your personality or make you compliant.... when you take a tylenol for a headache is makes the headache go away... same thing with antidepressants... they just make the depression go away. I am on all sorts of mental drugs (for bipolar) and I am by no means compliant and I still am critical of the government and anyone else I do not agree with.
